POSITION SUMMARY:
Unique opportunity fo! r an excellent writer/editor to help the Association raise its visibility through traditional corporate communications and thought leadership/content marketing in earned, owned and social media. Develop or coordinate news releases, newsletters and the annual report as well as media relations, crisis communications planning, blogging and social media use to highlight the Associationâs unique expertise in production agriculture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
1. Corporate Communications
- Write, edit and coordinate the production of a variety of corporate communications materials while ensuring quality and consistency with Association objectives and brand standards.
- Work products include the Annual Report, company presentations, print and online customer newsletters, informational mailings to customers, speci! fic customer correspondence, company fact sheets, and internal! communication.
- Work products appear in various media including print, company internet sites, and direct customer correspondence.
- Provide direction to vendors and agencies as needed to fulfill duties.
- Work with internal subject matter experts and external agencies to write and edit thought leadership content that highlights the Associationâs unique expertise in production agriculture. Package the content into articles, white papers, FAQ documents, blog posts and other formats.
- Pitch story ideas to the media, and work to place articles and interviews that enhance the Associationâs image and reputation.
- Execute the Associationâs social media program. Recommend and implement practical ways to use social media channels to raise the companyâs visibility and enhance search engine optimization.
- Write and edit press releases! and media advisories. Distribute releases to local and industry media contacts, coordinate the development of talking points and responses to questions, and arrange interviews with Association executives and spokespeople.
- Organize annual media training for leaders and members of the Board of Directors.
- Document and manage the Associationâs crisis communications plan. Communicate the plan to leaders, and ensure that trained spokespeople are designated and processes defined for managing communications during crisis or near-crisis situations, e.g., during disasters, business continuity disruptions or similar events. Serve on the Associationâs business continuity team.
- Work with the Community Relations Specialist to promote the Associationâs community involvement activities across a four-state area. Outreach may include placement of stories in the local, regional and trade press as well as coverage i! n customer newsletters and other channels.
- Develop and promote! a speakers bureau that builds goodwill and awareness of Association subject matter experts. Help secure opportunities to speak at community or industry events.
- Develop press release templates for use by retail offices to promote appointments, cash-back dividends, scholarship funding and other news in their local communities. Provide guidance in how to work with the media to successfully place news.
- Work with the Farm Credit Systemâs reputation management team to coordinate national publicity opportunities that feature Farm Credit Services of America customers or news.
- Provide leadership and logistical support for Association sponsored events including the coordination of themes and messaging, speaker support, event planning and advertising, and production of print materials. Gather attendee feedback to measure the impact of events and gain insights for continual improvement. JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of corporate communications principles and practices; brand identity management, media relations, social media, copywriting and editing, and publication management.
- Excellent writing, editing and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal communications and relationship management skills
- The ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in a Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities.
- Ability to complete work in an acceptable time frame and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
- Understand and use computer technology related to carrying out essential responsibilities of the job. Ability to operate telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.
- Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.
- Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation (up to 10%) to carry out essential responsibilities.
- Ability to understand ! and explain various subject matter and consult on concepts, programs, terminology and methods.

- Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, industry specialists, and the public at all levels.
- Ability to use a keyboard/calculator/computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
Bachelorâs degree (i.e. journalism with a public relations emphasis, marketing, english, communications or business administration) and five to seven yearsâ experience in a corporate communications and public relations position.
