Primary Function:
Incumbent works under the direction of the Elections Manager or designee, coordinating voter registration functions and maintaining voter information.
Essential Functions:
Coordinate the receipt and entry of registrations and voter records into the voter registration system to ensure accurate and up to date voter rolls.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.
Utilize available information to verify discrepancies and document research of each record.
Update voter records according to reports of moves, death and other criteria in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure all voter registration procedures comply with applicable Nebraska Revised Statutes.
Provide guidance and instruction to staff in proper operation of the registration system and essential policies, procedures and regulations governing voter registration.
Manage workflow for most effective use of assigned staff.
Assist in forecasting staffing needs required for election cycles.
Monitor employee performance and record work observations, gather documentation of work performance and provide updates to the Elections Manager.
Manage voter registration database generating weekly reports and extracting data for mailings.
Coordinate correspondence (e.g., voter confirmation cards, voter information cards, etc.).
Prov ide customer service relating to voter registration, including answering phones and servicing customers at the counter as needed.
Oversee the petition verification process and verification of provisional ballots following elections.
Assist with the election canvass process.
Prepare materials as needed for Deputy Registrar training.
Review the effectiveness and efficiency of voter registration processes and make recommendations for improvement.
Report to work at assigned location with regular and predictable attendance.
Safely operate a motor vehicle while traveling on County business.
Perform other duties as directed and assigned.
Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements:
Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, information technology or related field required.
Two (2) years* of administrative work experience required.
Two (2) years of coordinating the work of staff.
Experience with databases and SQL queries preferred.
Must type forty (40) words per minute.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and own mode of transportation at the time of hire and throughout the course of employment.
Must be a registered voter (Neb. Rev. Stat. §32-305).

Work is performed indoors in an office setting and occasionally on site at locations throughout the count y. Noise level is usually moderate. Work is generally performed during standard day-shift hours, however hours will occasionally include varied days, hours and overtime as needed. Work may be stressful when dealing with multiple priorities and time constraints. Incumbents may encounter uncooperative or irate persons while performing duties.
Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of sitting and standing, frequent walking, reaching, carrying, and occasional balancing, kneeling, crouching and bending. An incumbent must have the ability to transport themselves to and from various locations throughout the metropolitan area. An incumbent must have the ability to frequently lift and/or carry files and other materials weighing up to 10 pounds and to occasionally lift and carry equipment and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, inc lude close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
