Description: Nebraska State Government is in need of Fire Marshal Deputy/Pipeline Safety Damage Prevention right now, this occupation will be ordered in Nebraska. Conduct safety inspections of natural gas pipeline facilities, evaluate design, construction and testing of newly installed gas pipelines, a! nd review gas operator reports and evaluate for accuracy. Take enforcement actions as necessary for violations of natural gas pipeline safety regulations, and assist the Attorney General's office as necessary with violations of State damage prevention regulations. Provide written activity reports in a timely manner.
Must live or relocate to the Grand Island NE area.
Must test prior to receiving an interview.

Test sites: College Park Building, UNL Extension Service Hall Co., 3180 W. Hwy 34, Room 2, Grand Island
Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Conference Room Lower Level C, Lincoln, NE.
Examples of Work:
The primary duties are to inspect and investigate damage to jurisdictional natural gas pipelines, promote the prevention of damage to underground facilities, conduct inspection of and evaluate gas operator written damage p! revention plans and programs in accordance with State regulati! ons. Meet with and disseminate information regarding pipeline damage prevention to stakeholders and the public as necessary.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Experience in firefighting.
PREFERRED: Knowledge of underground utilities and excavation practices and pipeline operations.
OTHER: Valid driver's license or able to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good writing and communication skills are essential. Must have experience using computers with Windows operating system, MS Office and associated software and digital cameras. Must pass a written exam in order to receive an interview.
