Responsible for business development, credit administration and ongoing main! tenance of large commercial agribusiness accounts. These accounts typically have $5 - $100 million or more in sales, may have multiple locations, and may also be regional or national in scope of business. Financial needs are typically complex including credit needs in excess of $5 million and accounts will have needs for other financial services including cash management and leasing services. Accounts will be originated but also purchased participated or syndicated loans in assigned industry. Charged with developing an in-depth understanding of the assigned industry along with each customer and prospect in order to provide innovative and customized products and services to meet the needs of these accounts. Analyze financial statements, make credit recommendations and provide credit packages and services to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of the agribusiness customer. Work to meet marketing and servicing goals, ensuring quality standards are met. Help provide comp! any, state and national level leadership complementary to Farm! Credit Services of America politically and in related marketing. May provide leadership to the staff, leadership in meeting marketing and servicing goals, and leadership in ensuring quality standards are met. Work in a team environment to accomplish team goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

1. Level 25 & 26: Represent the Association as the relationship manager for select commercial agribusiness accounts. Level 27: Represent the Association as the relationship manager for select complex and often multi-lender commercial agribusiness relationships. Maintain a significant portfolio size of at least $200 million.

2. Level 25 & 26: Market credit and related services directly to commercial agribusiness accounts. Originate, structure, make credit recommendations and close on commercial agribusiness accounts. Mainta! in constructive customer and prospective customer relationships. Execute a comprehensive calling plan designed to increase the Association’s market share for assigned industry. Ensure profitability of the total customer relationship. Level 27: In addition, provide leadership and guidance to the assigned industry team in developing a comprehensive calling plan. Reflect a proven, consistent track record of team-leading performance and production as measured by new money, interest rate spreads and fees. Emphasis will be placed on new business originated and balanced with purchased participations.

3. Solicit and maintain credit relationships with commercial agribusiness accounts through participated or syndicated relationships originated by other lenders.

4. Maintain close working relationship with retail lending staff for existing customer relationships and willingly provide marketing support for related accounts not currently financed by Farm Credit Servic! es of America.

5. Level 25 & 26: Maintain a high level ! of commercial lending knowledge and represent Farm Credit Services of America at various industry and company events as needed. Level 27: In addition, be recognized within the company and within the assigned industry as an expert and as one of the premier lenders when compared to peers.

6. Level 25 & 26: Coordinate and communicate consistent interpretation of Association and division credit philosophy ensuring its implementation. Level 27: Provide input and leadership to the industry team regarding credit standards and underwriting philosophy while ensuring its implementation.

7. Level 27: Provide input and leadership to the Association regarding product delivery and industry issues.

8. Level 25 & 26: Exhibit strong team skills and embrace the team culture. Level 27: Consistently demonstrate exemplary level team skills and serve as an example for other teams members as to how to embrace the team culture.

9. Level 2! 7: Demonstrate leadership within assigned industry team. This may include but is not limited to: coaching/mentoring team members, directing the customer selection agenda, championing change, and providing informal team leadership to the team.

10. Identify and participate in internal and external training.

Additional functions of the position may include:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Level 25 & 26: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, agricultural economics, animal science or a closely related field required. Minimum of 5-7 years lending experience required.

Level 27: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, finance, agricultural economics, animal science or a closely related field required. Minimum of 10 years lending experience req! uired.

Duties require:

  • Recent lending expe! rience with special emphasis on agribusiness firms preferred.
  • Strong understanding of agribusiness lending including vertical integration and contracting opportunities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills, and the ability and willingness to represent the Association.
  • Demonstrated abilities in developing new business.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  • Proficient use of Relationship and other applicable computer systems and software applications as required.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Extensive contact with Agribusiness Finance team members, assigned industry team members, and with other Association staff to include Syndication, Appraisal, Legal, Finance, and Credit team ! members along with the Association’s senior leadership. Meet with team and Association staff to effectively administer special credits. Meet with customers, applicants, influencers, banks, Farm Credit Associations, Farm Credit Banks, and agents as needed in conjunction with prospecting and loan servicing activities. Work with Farm Credit Administration, Farm Credit Council, outside legal counsel to ensure compliance and legal soundness of the portfolio. May be assigned other external responsibilities with boards, related organizations, and political groups on behalf of Farm Credit Services of America.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities.
  • Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simu! ltaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives a! nd satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
  • Ability to operate telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.
  • Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.
  • Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, and the public at all levels.
  • Ability to use computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
  • Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities (20-40% overnight travel).
