Location: Papillion, Nebraska

Under the general supervision of the County Attorney or designee, the incumbent accurately performs a variety of skilled clerical and research duties requiring moderate indepe! ndent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, collect, and analyze laws, judicial decisions, legal articles and other relevant materials to assist in case preparation.
Assist with writing legal memoranda, drafts, opinions, and orders in all types of court matters.
Assist attorney in preparation for court, civil, and legal proceedings.

May conduct arraignments, hearings, trials or parts thereof under the direct supervision of a deputy county attorney with proper law student certification. Peripheral Duties Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree required.

Current student at accredited law school; 2L level required.
Two years of related experience preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of the legal system.
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software (e.g. WordPerfec! t, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Working kn! owledge of on-line legal research services (e.g. Westlaw).
Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Considerable research and investigative skills.
Effective planning and organizational skills.
Well-developed communication skills.
Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment. .
Ability to carry out assigned projects to completion.
Ability to understand and follow instructions.
Ability to work under pressure and/or frequent interruptions.
Ability to prioritize work duties.
Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and supervisors.
Ability to maintain and protect confidential and sensitive information

Ability to operate standard office equipment including, but not limited to, multi-line telephone, computer, typewriter, printer, scanner, copier, and fax
