The Role

As a Senior Social Security Specialist, you will be responsible for the fair, ethical and timely management of Social Security claims. They will be responsible to share technical knowledge with team members and to set a strong example.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for he investigation, evaluation, interpretation and determination of routine to moderately complex claims with sound and impartial judgment.
  • Perform independently using appropriate duration guidelines when necessary
  • Interpret contract provisions, ! vocational and medical information independently
  • Solv! es problems independently
  • Effectively explain the routine to moderately complex claim situations
  • Conducts negotiations in identifying potential settlements
  • Interpret contract provisions and medical records independently
  • Interact with claimants, policyholders, attorneys, physicians and brokers directly either orally or written
  • Responsible for internal and external customer satisfaction in the resolution of claim-specific issues.
  • May act as a resource to our Legal department as it relates to compliance, legislative, legal and regulatory issues.
  • Shares technical knowledge with team members on escalated issues/concerns demonstrating positive leadership ability and a high level of self-leadership.
  • Works on projects at the discretion of management.
  • Performs quality audits and assessments on newly hired team members. Requirements
Education
  • Undergraduate degree or 4+ years of co! mparable work experience
Experience
  • 1 - 3 + years of experience in Social Security and/or Disability Insurance Claims that
  • directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • Educational experience and/or proficiency in Group Disability Contracts, Medical Terminology and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations.
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions.
