Location: Lincoln, Nebraska

Description: State of Mississippi is at the momment seeking for DHS-Child Support Enfc Ofcr right now, this position will be placed in Nebraska. This is investigative work involving the enforcement of laws pertaining to child support obligations for Temporary Assistance To Needy Families (TANF) cases and Non-TANF cas! es. The duties of the position are performed within guidelines set in pertinent federal statutes and agency policies and procedures under the general supervision of a Child Support Supervisor or Regional Director. Incumbents work closely with agency staff attorneys in providing documentation relative to child-support cases and in the actual presentation of legal testimony.

Examples of Work:
Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following:

Receives and reviews referrals and applications to establish paternity and child support obligations and to enforce and/or review existing court orders for child support.

Provides testimony in court cases involving non-support.

Works closely with attorneys in providing required child support services.

Interviews TANF recipients and Non-TANF clients to obtain additional information in processing cases.

Locates absent parents by ! utilizing local resources so that child support obligations ca! n be established and enforced; provides verification of addresses, employment and social security numbers of parents.

Maintains the official child support record; updates the automated child support system (METSS) as appropriate.

Maintains contact with other State agencies via mail, telephone, and other correspondence.

Initiates appropriate enforcement action against individuals delinquent in paying child support.

Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
These minimum qualifications have been agreed upon by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in this job class and are based upon a job analysis and the essential functions. However, if a candidate believes he/she is qualified for the job although he/she does not have the minimum qualifications set forth below, he/she may request special consideration through substitution of related education and experience, demonstrating the ability t! o perform the essential functions of the position. Any request to substitute related education or experience for minimum qualifications must be addressed to the State Personnel Board in writing, identifying the related education and experience which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform all essential functions of the position.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

OR

Education:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED);

AND

Experience:
Four (4) years of experience related to the above described duties.

Substitution Statement:
Related education and related experience may be substituted on an equal basis.

Essential Functions:
Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring agency. The essential functions ! include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Investigate! s child support cases and establishes an individual's legal obligation to provide child support.

2. Establishes paternity and medical support obligations when appropriate.

3. Enforces child support orders following policies and procedures.

4. Reviews and modifies court orders.

5. Completes case packets for referrals to staff attorney for action on initial support, paternity, stipulated agreements, modifications and redirection using state agency manuals, bulletins and other state materials.
