VP and GC - Enterprise Legal Services The candidate, under direction of Global General Counsel-COE, serves as head of the legal depar! tment's Regional focused COE. Drives regional strategy and ensures successful execution of legal services for assigned country/geographies and functional/technical expertise for groups that represent all company Business Units within that region. Keeps company as the ultimate client and strategically guides decisions to this end. Ensures structures enable strategy and develops future capabilities that realize the vision of the COE. Ensures excellence in legal services from functional areas and regional geographies are delivered. Oversees a legal department with multiple functional, technical and/or regional experts within the specified region. Responsible for budgeting and cost management of areas managed. Ensures that all significant legal matters are addressed appropriately. Develops and strengthens relationships with business unit partners to ensure a good understanding of the strategic direction and legal requirements of all business groups. Develops organizational stru! ctures and processes to optimizes resource allocation based on! business needs, including outside counsel, contract/vendor relationships, and direct staff. Supervises/develops/manages Group Counsel, Senior Group Counsel and Director level employees. Actively serves as a leader, positive role model and teacher regarding legal counseling and business skills, and company Leader Expectation Model behaviors. Identifies and sponsors enterprise-wide initiatives that advance the company's legal function.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree. Should be or become a member of a relevant licensing association. Must have 15+ years of relevant experience in progressive leadership roles within a multinational legal function - included may be prior experience with one or more company business units and/or geographies. Experience as a transactional attorney is required. Varied exposure to substantial legal practice areas typically encountered by large companies is needed.
