Detailed specification about this job opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. position that provides legal support to the company on a variety of issues but primarily focused on litigation. Position Responsibilities The successful candidate will work independently to complete the following tasks:
General Litigation Activities:
Performing initial case assessments and investigating claims
Responding to subpoenas
Ensuring copies of documentation are properly filed and distributed
Calendaring key dates in cases
Creating and organizing case files
Assisting with the interviewing of witness and preparing them for depositions and trial
Assisting with responding to discovery
Assisting with document holds, retention and the collection and review of documents
Attending hearings and trials in order to take notes and provide summaries of the proceedings
Working with internal clients and outside counsel
Performing legal and factual research
Identifying judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material
Preparing litigation status reports, including updating Case Track
Helping prepare legal arguments, applications, dec! larations and correspondence
Reviewing and monitoring! new and updated cases, laws and regulations
Drafting routine legal documents, such as pleadings, discovery, briefs, and memoranda
Providing support to other departments to fulfill documentation requests and/or provide information regarding the corporate structure
Coordinating requests between multiple parties involved in litigation by way of consistent communication with client, claims and full partnership with attorney though the case
Some travel may be required Position Qualifications
Bachelorâs degree or paralegal certificate.
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant paralegal experience supporting attorneys in commercial/complex litigation in a law firm or corporate law department
Professional written and oral communication skills are critical, as is attention to detail.
Candidate must possess excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to compile information from multiple sources.
Candidate should be proficient in the following software: Word, Power Point, MS Outlook.
Candidate must be able to conduct legal research on Lexis, Westlaw and other on-line computer research databases.
Applicable knowledge of electronic filings (state and federal), as well as court rules, procedures, and litigation terminology
Superior grammar, writing and proofreading skills.
Must be able to handle company confidential information and data requiring the highest degree of attention to preserve confidentiality.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a sense of urgency, ability to multi-task, ability to handle unanticipated situations effectively and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
Must present a professional image.
Must work both independently, as well as collaboratively in a team.
Must communicate effectively with employees to senior management, as well as external! parties including outside counsel
