Sr Counsel

In-house counsel position will provide legal support to the organization on technology-related matters, including patent matters, such as portfolio management, new filings, clearance and patentability evaluations and contract matter! s related to product development. Position Responsibilities
Support organization on all aspects of patents, including:
Development and execution of patent strategies consistent with business focus and initiatives
Conducting clearance and patentability reviews for new products and product modifications
Strategic management of outside counsel related to patent prosecution Assistance with patent preparation and prosecution, including management of outside counsel for same
Training activities related to best practices for R&D activities
Generate and/or review and negotiate a variety of IP-related agreements, including non-disclosure, joint development, and technology licensing.
Generate correspondence and assist in resolution of disputes related to support activities.
In collaboration with business partners and supervisor, help identify and implement opportunities to simplify legal support, such as by dev! elopment or expanded use of standard templates, and/or to real! ize cost savings
Handle other legal matters for company as directed by supervisor. Position Qualifications
Licensed attorney with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a law firm or corporate law-related setting handling patent and other technology-related matters. Ideal experience includes extensive patent litigation experience and strategic client counselling related to patent matters. Admission to the USPTO bar a plus.
Must be proficient in the necessary elements required for agreements, with good business judgment that translates into an ability to articulate to business partners relative risks associated with contract elements. Experience developing and/or negotiating IP-related agreements (e.g., non-disclosure, joint development, technology licensing) a plus.
Demonstrated ability to be a team player and partner effectively with business clients in a collaborative environment.
Professional written and oral communication skills, i! ncluding the ability to translate complicated legal concepts to understandable business terms.
Excellent organization and advocacy skills.
Proficiency in the following software: MS Office tools.
Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to compile information from multiple sources.
Must be able to handle company confidential information and data requiring the highest degree of attention to preserve confidentiality.
Self-starter with a sense of urgency, ability to multi-task and work independently, ability to handle unanticipated situations effectively and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
Must present a professional image.
Must communicate effectively with all internal constituents from employees to senior management, as well as external organizations including, potentially, government enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations and outside counsel.
