POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for making calls to early stage delinquent AgDirect customers, with the goal of receiving payment, completing an acceptable loan servicing action (that resolves the delinquency), or identifying a more significant credit issue. This position is also responsible for receiving loan servicing requests which are initiated by the customer whether delinquent or not and using delegated authorities to make a sound decision on the request. This position may also be asked to underwrite new AgDirect loans when workload allows. Works in a team environment to accomplish goals.

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:
May provide work direction and counsel to Credit Service and Support Specialists.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

1. Make calls on early stage delinquent customers to request payment. Utilize available customer financial statements, including balance sheets, trend analysis, income statements, cash flows, collateral analysis and credit bureau reports to determine an acceptable plan to bring the account current. Accounts handled at this level are typically classified as low to medium risk and are less likely to experience loss.

Level 21: Provide guidance to other teammates on acceptable plans to bring accounts current and focus on higher risk accounts consisting of accounts with assets classified as high risk and those with a greater likelihood of loss due to historic events

2. Receive loan servicing requests (including restructure requests) from AgDirect customers and utilize delegated authority to make credit decision based on available or requested information. Communicate the need for document preparation to the Credit Service & Support Specialist to prepare documents and obtain customer signature.

Level 21: Incumbents have higher delegated authority and provide guidance on credit decisions to other teammates.

3. Provide analyses for the assigned AgDirect portfolio, including monitoring, credit classification changes, accrual/stop accrual analysis for distressed loans, and restructured loan assets.

Level 21: Demonstrate a higher level of financial analysis acumen and provide guidance to others on credit classification changes, accrual analysis, restructure applications, etc. Participate in loan committee meetings on credits within portfolio and provide assistance to Level 19 AgDirect Resolution Officers with credits at the loan committee.

4. Resolve individually assigned early stage delinquencies according to the standardized loan servicing process and with the assistance of the team leader and other team members.

5. Ensure Farm Credit Services of America is in compliance with settlement laws, Farm Credit regulations, and internal procedures.

6. Assist in achieving satisfactory credit administration and credit quality goals.

7. Provide backup support, when assigned, to the AgDirect underwriting team. This includes analysis and credit decisions on loan renewals, term financing requests, and loan servicing actions for the retail loan portfolio.

8. Participate in the on-going design of Association processes to provide exceptional service to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Additional functions of the position may include:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Level 19: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business, finance and/or economics. A minimum of three to five years of lending/credit analysis experience with Farm Credit Services or a related agricultural credit organization.

Level 21: Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in business, finance and/or economics. A minimum of five years of lending/credit analysis experience with Farm Credit Services or a related agricultural credit organization. Collections experience specific to agriculture or commercial accounts preferred.

Duties require:

  • A general working knowledge of Farm Credit Services of America processes.
  • Good understanding of credit extension and loan administration. Comprehensive knowledge of Farm Credit Services of America's loan products and services.
  • In-depth understanding of finance and farm production methods, products, and profitability.
  • Knowledge of Farm Credit Administration regulations, Association policies, and the Farm Credit System lending mission.
  • Good skills in judgment, decisiveness, analysis, communications (both oral and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Maintain current awareness of social, economic, governmental, and environmental forces impacting agriculture.
  • Knowledge of basic loan accounting, loan accounting systems, workflow queue systems, and ability to use computer systems and databases.
  • Willing to work flexible hours including some evenings and/or weekends as needed to meet organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
  • Ability to interpret policy, programs, and regulations.
  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Extensive internal contact with credit underwriting and retail office teams. Regular contact with Omaha office staff and external customers. Regular contact with retained attorneys and in house legal team members.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to use computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities.
  • Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
  • Ability to understand and explain various subject matter and consult on concepts, programs, terminology and methods.
  • Ability to operate the telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.
  • Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.
  • Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, industry specialists, and the public at all levels.
  • Ability to use a keyboard/calculator/computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
  • Ability to use and understand various computer software related to carrying out essential responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation (up to 10%) to carry out essential responsibilities.
