This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative, technical, and professional work in administering and managing plant personnel and safety functions. Specific responsibilities include adve rtising, recruiting, interviewing, assisting in selection of Team Members to fill vacant positions, keeping records of insurance coverage and personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and preparing reports such as turnover and safety percentages, affirmative action reports, personnel activity reports, and accident reports; monitoring adherence to safety regulations including OSHA laws, Workers Compensation, EEO and ADA employment/labor laws, developing curriculum and conducting training for supervisors relating to Team Member relations, employment policies, and monitoring all disciplinary actions taken to ensure they are consistent and fair; attend and participate in community functions as a Tyson representative, working with attorneys in all plant related legal activities, and performing other responsibilities as they arise.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administ ration, a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
3 + years of Plant HR experience preferably as an Assistant HR Manager or combination or experience and education.
Computer Skills:
Standard computer skills; good presentation skills.
Communication Skills:
Excellent,interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Special Skills:
Broad knowledge of HR field; working knowledge of HR laws and regulations, Team Member benefits, safety and health concepts; strong labor relations experience. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Supervisory:
Must be willing to back up the Personnel and Safety Manager when needed and Supervise Safety Captains and Training.
Travel:
Some trips required for training purposes.
Physical Requirements:
Must be willing to inspect work areas and move to several areas of the plant which may include climbing stairs and ladders. Also must be able to w ork in hot, cold and wet environment.
