Assistant Manager/Manager Transportation Planning Duties: Will analyze transportation performance and develop alternatives to the current network which will increase reliability and efficiency. Identify systemic transportation problems and initiate corrective action. Manage the transportation network plan change process. Evaluate the impact of proposed transportation plan changes on operating expense, resources and customers. Gain concurrence to the plan changes with all affected Terminals, Regions and Departments. Respond to request! s from the Executive Vice President-Operations, the Vice Presi! dent-Transportation Services, and Vice President-Field Operations, and other senior officers on specific projects such as capital improvements, terminal efficiencies, train operations and others as requested. Develop, implement and maintain process improvement through software applications or written procedures. Provide data and/or ad-hoc analysis to supervisors utilizing MicroSoft Access and Union Pacific's data repository.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree. Preferred: A post-graduate degree (MBA, J.D. etc.) or higher. 1 year of experience in Network Planning & Operations in Service Design. 1 year of experience / knowledge developing and giving presentations strong written and oral communication skills. 5 years of experience in project management Time management and organziational skills. 2 years of experience in the Harriman Dispatching Center. 1 year of experience in Intermodal Operations exposure through Marketing & Sales, MDSC, Field Operations etc. 5 years! of experience in transportation field operations Road Operations and major Terminal Operations. 1 year(s) experience in train operations. Must have Advanced Microsoft Access skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite skills. Proficiency with software skills. Closing Date: 02-11-2014.
