Manager, Claims - Workers' Compensation Large Loss Unit

Description: FirstComp is at present recruited Manager, Claims - Workers' Compensation Large Loss Unit right now, this vacancy will be placed in Nebraska. FirstComp is currently recruiting a Manager of Claims to oversee the Large Loss Unit, excluding California. The Manager will be responsible for direct management of Examiners within the unit, including hiring, training and development, performance management and all other personnel decisions. The Manager coaches and mentors examiners within the unit, providing technical input on complex workers’ compensation cases and settlements.

Specific duties include the following:

• Claims Management â€" Manage all claims within the ! unit, from exception to closure
  
• People Management â€" Manage all Examiners within the unit
  
• Communications â€" Communicate with internal and external parties, including Claims Management Team, Examiners, Claimants, Medical Providers, Employers and Attorneys
  
• Technical Expertise â€" Provide counsel and guidance on complex claims
  

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  
• 10+ years of experience in workers’ compensation claims required, including experience handling very complex claims
  
• 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity required
  
• Must have experience with multiple jurisdictions
  
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  
• Must have experience working with a paperless Claims Management System
