In-house counsel position that provides legal support to wide array of company business units, both corporate groups and manufacturing plants, primarily on labor and employment matters. Position handles a variety of moderately complex to complex legal matters and projects, including day to day advice to the company and its HR and business professionals on a range of labor and employment issues. Position conducts legal research as needed, assists on dispute resolution associated with labor grievances, and manages arbitrations, administrative charges and employment litigation, as well as other ! related duties. Position Responsibilities
Advise clients o! n a day-to-day basis on a diverse variety of labor and employment issues, including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, WARN, OSHA, OFCCP regulations, and related state and international labor and employment laws.
Assist and manage outside counsel in preparing for arbitrations, and cases for litigation and trial.
Manage and advise on labor related issues at union facilities and during union organizing activity
Work with relevant specialists and HR personnel on affirmative action matters and enforcement
Prepare correspondence and assist in resolution of disputes related to employee disputes, arbitrations, and litigation and trial of employment related civil cases.
Conduct investigations related to employment related concerns and code of conduct violations
Conduct training for clients on a variety of labor and employment related topics.
Research and analyze legal issues.
Handle ot! her legal matters for company as directed by supervisor. Position Qualifications
Licensed attorney with a minimum of eight (8) yearsâ experience in a law firm or corporate law-related setting handling labor and employment issues and litigation (either exclusively or in combination with other general commercial litigation). In house experience in a large company setting a plus.
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with business clients in a collaborative environment to achieve stated business objectives.
Agility to address diverse legal issues with internal customers on a day to day basis.
Ability to analyze and effectively execute on complex investigations.
Professional written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and advocacy skills.
Team player.
Proficiency in the following software: People Soft User, Word, Power Point, MS Outlook.
Ability to ! conduct complex legal research on Westlaw and other on-line computer re! search databases and to develop and track information.
Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to compile information from multiple sources.
Must be able to handle company confidential information and data requiring the highest degree of attention to preserve confidentiality.
Self-starter with ability to multi-task, ability to handle unanticipated situations effectively and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
Must communicate effectively with all internal constituents from employees to senior management, as well as external organizations including potentially government enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations and outside counsel.
Ability to travel as required by position, and potentially in excess of 25% of the time.
