POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing insurance processes which include veri! fying insurance forms and data submitted by retail offices; tracking, monitoring, and managing the insurance paper flow between the marketplace and insurance vendors to ensure policy requirements and provisions are met; underwriting and entering insurance data in multiple processing software systems; and editing final insurance documents for quality assurance. Coordinate the insurance processes and serves the company’s internal customers by providing support and problem resolution to the retail office teams via phone, email and Relationship. Develop and maintains strong working relationships with internal customers by providing a consistent quality of service which is timely, thorough, accurate and responsive. Develop strong working relationships with insurance company personnel to facilitate optimum risk management for our producer customers. Work in a team environment to accomplish goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIL! ITIES:
Essential functions of the position include, bu! t are not limited to:

Level 17A:
1. Process insurance forms from multiple insurance vendors including analyzing and editing applications, actual production history records, and acreage reports utilizing insurance company software, as well as internal processing software.

2. Review and analyze insurance reporting forms submitted by agents for application of best practices for optimum customer risk management.

3. Enter and maintain insurance data in Farm Credit Services of America’s database and other software.

4. Assist with insurance process training for marketplace staff.

5. Participate in collaborative decision-making regarding implementation of insurance rules and development of internal processes.

6. Develop and maintain good working relationships with marketplace teams to maximize customer service performance and processes.

7. Utilize multiple insurance company and government websites to obtain! general information and to monitor progress regarding specific policies.

8. Work with Insurance Company underwriters to resolve customer policy questions and differences, clarification of rules and system issues.

9. Assist in the development and delivery of training sessions to: educate new insurance team members, temporary staff and agents; and to update insurance analysts and agents on crop insurance, form completion, and processing changes.

10. Assist the Director-Insurance Processing in the administration and operation of the insurance programs as assigned.

Additional duties and responsibilities for Level 18B:
11. Clarify and interpret underwriting rules for processing team members and for insurance staff in the marketplace including Insurance Account Specialists and Insurance Specialists.

12. Make independent decisions regarding implementation of insurance rules utilizing official regulatory resources.

1! 3. Verify correct application of underwriting and actuarial calculation! s by insurance company software.

14. Negotiate with insurance company personnel regarding application of complex insurance rules for specific customer insurance policy situations.

15. Monitor official publications to evaluate frequent, federal and state rule changes, including forms requirements, actuarial changes, and policy provision changes. Initiate internal and marketplace process changes to assure compliance.

16. Provide complex underwriting and processing training to insurance team members, including processing team members, Insurance Account Specialists, and Insurance Specialists.

17. Work with Director-Insurance Processing and/or Director-Insurance Operations to identify and resolve varying interpretations of regulatory information among insurance company vendors.

Additional functions of the position may include:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Level 17A! : High school education or equivalent. Post high school education preferred. The ideal candidate will have two to three years related insurance experience preferred.

Level 18B: High school education or equivalent. Post high school education preferred. The ideal candidate will have four to six years of specific experience. Solid understanding of insurance underwriting rules and resources.

Duties for both levels require:

  • Excellent human relations skills, oral communication skills, and writer communication skills.
  • Knowledge of crop insurance or related insurance experience preferred.
  • Very high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, preferably Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a self-starter and work with very little supervision.
  • Ability to initiate, organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Limited overnight trave! l and irregular hours may be required.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL ! CONTACTS:
High contact with internal customers in the marketplace and with multiple external insurance company vendors.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to use computer and other related office equipment to accomplish work objectives. This includes reading the screen and keying/typing information.
  • Use and understand computer software related to carrying out essential responsibilities of this position.

  • Ability to move about the office with occasional lifting, reaching, and bending.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time to accomplish work at desk.
  • Ability to concentrate and accomplish analytical work in an active open team environment.

  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to understand and explain various subject matter and consult on concepts, programs, terminology and methods.
  • Ability to operate the telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.
  • Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, industry specialists, and the public at all levels.
  • Ability to use a keyboard/calculator/computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing info! rmation.
  • Ability to use and understand various computer softwa! re related to carrying out essential responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation (up to 10% to carry out essential responsibilities).
