Location: Grand Island, Nebraska

Description: Advanced Correctional Healthcare is at present recruited RN Site Manager - $500 Sign-On Bonus right now, this vacancy will be dwelled in Nebraska. This position manages and evaluates the medical program’s activities based on ACH goals, objectives, aims and philosophy according to AMA standards and! contractual obligations; functions as liaison between correctional officials, public agencies and ACH; and implements all contractually required services.

  • Reports directly to and meets with the Director Medical Operations, CEO and prepares reports as requested;
  • Maintains a professional attitude at all times;
  • Maintains a good working relationship with correctional personnel, nursing staff, contracted providers, outside provider agencies and corporate office staff;
  • Is tactful and diplomatic at all times and functions as a role model for staff;
  • Utilizes established corporate and correctional policies and procedures in making decisions, but uses sound independent judgment in meeting responsibilities and performing duties of the position.
  • Develops, revises, interprets, and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, aims, and philosophy of ACH.
  • Recruits, orients, supervises and evaluates performance of nu! rsing and clerical personnel;
  • Assigns, directs, and p! romotes employees as a supervisory function;
  • Hires, transfers, lays off and recalls employees as staffing needs require;
  • Counsels, disciplines, suspends, and/or terminates employees who violate policies established by ACH or the facility.
  • Completes a yearly written evaluation on all directly supervised staff, and a three (3) month evaluation on new employees who are under direct supervision;
  • Ensures adequate staffing at facility.
  • Fills in as needed during periods of short staffing;
  • Recruits contracted professional providers (physicians, dentists, psychologists, etc. as needed;
  • Ensures appropriate licensure and insurance coverage on all medical personnel, i.e. physicians, nurses, dentists, etc.
  • Audits payroll, professional time sheets of independent contractors, reports hours and reviews use of overtime;
  • Oversees services rendered by contractors and professional staff, ensures weekly submission ! of all required service logs;
  • Supplies written job descriptions to all staff and contracted personnel; confirms presence of all of the appropriate forms (licenses, employment applications, signed contracts, etc.) in their personnel files;
  • Ensures the proper flow of relevant information (policies, procedures, in-service, problems, etc.) to supervisors and supervised personnel;
  • Completes and submits monthly statistical, narrative, summary and/or operation reports.
  • Peer reviews
  • Maintaining update medical policies and procedures
  • Conducting CQI meetings
  • Audits weekly logs and received billing statements/invoices, and forwards them to corporate office;
  • Maintains absolute security of all medical records;
  • Audits medical files to ensure that all provided services are documented using the SOAP format;
  • Screens all the requests for records and approves/disapproves responses as appropriate;
  • Reviews, processes, and responds (via ACH attorneys) to all lawsuits;!
  • Reviews status of inmates with serious health problems ensuring all necessary intervention and treatment is completed;
  • Monitors inpatient hospitalizations and ensures early release whenever appropriate.
  • Evaluates referrals to outside consultants for necessity of referral and applicable security restrictions and intervenes when necessary;
  • Monitors and ensures provision of all required contractual services;
  • Regularly evaluates the provision of all medical services to prevent the inappropriate use/duplication of those services;
  • Identifies financial responsibility (inmate, correctional, ACH, insurance company, etc.) for all incurred expenses;
  • Closely monitors potential catastrophic illnesses; explores and utilizes all appropriate means of limiting both ACH and corrections’ liabilities, if appropriate;
  • Evaluates and recommends methods of improving operation efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Audits ph! ysician prescriptions to ensure adherence to formulary;
  • Monitors and ensures strict staff compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances;
  • Reviews/approves all requisitions, approves all appropriate purchases via purchasing order system;
  • Authorizes and secures supplies and equipment for operations;
  • Monitors and evaluates physical safety requirements of both patients and staff to ensure safe working environment;
  • Monitors and/or provides an in-service program suitable to the facility health care program when able to do so on-site;
  • Meets with designated wardens, jail directors and commissioners on a monthly or as needed basis and follows up meetings with letters of confirmation on items discussed.
  • Meets with outside hospital/agency administrator to ensure a close working relationship between them and ACH when applicable;
  • Functions as liaison between ACH and oth! er professional organizations;
  • Ensures written confirmation of! all commitments made to or by ACH.
  • Ensures (where available) meeting NCCHC standards of the medical program by ensuring presence of required level of organization efficiency, and provision of approved and appropriate medical services;
  • Accepts on-call status;
  • Attends seminars, workshops, conference, etc. as required by (and at the expense of) Advanced Correctional Healthcare;
  • May be asked to travel;
  • May be asked, but not required, to relocate temporarily or permanently as ACH needs requires;
  • Adheres to established policies of ACH and the Department of Corrections; and
  • Provides other services and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, hospital administration or business administration preferred; baccalaureate degree from an NLN accredited school; master’s degree recommended; licensed as an R.N. in appropriate state(s); experience in delivery ! and the administration of ambulatory nursing care recommended, if applicable; three (3) years administrative/supervisory experience; correctional experience preferred; good decision making skills; and experience in short-term and long-term planning, budgeting and contracting.
