Work schedule : M-F 8-5 with occasional on call and one weeknight (until 8:00 p.m.)

Under limited supervision, supervises all levels of adult offenders released from a correctional/rehabilitation institution, including lifetime sex offenders; maintains records, and prepares required reports. Position requires the ability to analyze a variety of components to determine the best possible recommendation for a given offender and his/her circumstance. Examples of Work:
Provide supervision to a caseload of parolees, furlough participants and adult sex offenders on lifetime supervision. Research case files to assist in determination of status and conditions of supervision. Conduct validated risk assessments, placement investigations and home visits. Counsel and assist offenders in adjusting to the community. Develop offender case plans based on criminogenic needs and conduct cognitive classes for parolees. Utilize various electronic monitoring modes. Collaborate with employers, institutional staff, area law enforcement, mental health boards, county attorneys and treatment providers regarding behavior and treatment of offenders. Conduct violation investigations, searches, drug testing and arrests. Testify in court and at the Parole Board hearings. Prepare reports and maintain case files. Covers an assigned territory.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in criminal justice, social sciences or behavioral science related field plus one year of experience working with offenders OR an Associate Degree in criminal justice, social sciences or behavioral science related field plus three years experience working with offenders OR college credits, training or career development program participation (in the fields of criminal justice, social sciences or behavioral science related field) equivalent to one year of education plus four years of working with offenders OR five years experience working with offenders.
PREFERRED: Bachelors degree and/or participation in a training or career development program, to include NDCS work groups, non required training and leadership initiatives. Experience with Siebel, Web Suite, Corrections Tracking System, and
Office Outlook. Experience with motivational interviewing and conducting investigations. Accreditation experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish desired and assessed. Knowledge of evidence based practices. OTHER: Must have a valid driver's license. Driving record will be reviewed and taken into consideration. Must live in the Norfolk area or re-locate to the area within 90 days of accepting the position. Extensive travel may be required (no overnight). Transcripts required prior to appointment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively with offenders, criminal justice agencies and community resource agencies. Knowledge of offender assessments such as the LS-CMI, Static 99, Stable 2007, and Acute 2007. Must be self-motivated and organized and be able to work independently. Experience with Word, Excel and internet.
