This is an entry-level position. Work involves writing presentence/predisposition reports and/or supervis! ing clients placed on probation, as well as conducting juvenile intake interviews as needed. Involves interviewing and collecting information from victims and preparation of a victim impact statement for presentence reports in cases of domestic violence, sex offenses, child abuse, homicides and other violent offenses. Maintain on-going communication with victims regarding status of case and to address safety concerns. Must be willing to work non-traditional hours and respond to victim crisis situations, assess the welfare of the victim and be familiar with local victim advocacy groups and treatment agencies to make referrals for assistance/intervention. Be an advocate for victim's rights as a representative of the Criminal Justice system. Participate in committees and community groups that address domestic violence and sexual assault issues. Collaborate with domestic violence and sex offender supervision units in office and in the field as victim liaison.
Qualif! ications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor! s degree in the social sciences, criminal justice or related fields.
PREFERRED: Bilingual skills in English and Spanish. Basic understanding of domestic violence and/or sex offender intervention.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to write the required reports, case plans, chronological notes; ability to communicate effectively with, judges, school personnel, law enforcement, families; ability to read and interpret police reports, mental health evaluations, chemical evaluations; ability to maintain workload of writing reports and supervising clients; appear in court; ability to motivate clients toward self-improvement.
